History of Fawcett Funeral Home

History of Fawcett Funeral Home

Fawcett Junker Funeral Home & Crematory has been serving Winona and Fountain City area families for years. We are honored to be a part of the rich history of this community and plan to be a part of it for many years to come.

Our funeral home has served all faiths since its beginning in 1937. Raymond W. and Ruth Fawcett purchased the Fiedler Funeral Home and changed the name to Fawcett Funeral Service.

They also purchased the funeral business of George Hillyer. In 1962, O.J. Fawcett, the son of Ray and Ruth, returned to Winona to join his parents' business. In 1964, construction of the funeral home on West Broadway began and was completed in February 1965.

In June 1966, Brian D. Junker started employment and in April 1998, he purchased the business and changed the name to Fawcett Junker Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Douglas J. Penning joined the staff in July 2001. In January 2002, Douglas became a business partner with Brian and in June 2010 became the owner and president of the corporation.  In 2016, Fawcett Junker Funeral Home accquired Woodlawn Crematory.  This allows us to take care of your loved one from the initial transfer through the cremation process.
