Fredrick W. Parpart, 89 of Pickwick, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2020, at La Crescent Health Services, La Crescent, MN.
Fredrick William was born June 25, 1930, in Winona, to Fredrick E. and Frances (Zimmerman) Parpart. He was a life-long Pickwick resident and on May 23, 1953, he married Betty J. Severson at Cedar Valley Lutheran Church. Together they raised two children.
He was employed at Peerless Chain, Winona for over 40 years, retiring in 1987. Fred then worked with his son Scott building new homes in the area. For over 20 years, in his spare time, he pinned buttons for Express-a-Button.
Fred is a member of Cedar Valley Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the Pickwick Mill Association. These last few years, he enjoyed traveling to Red Wing to play bingo.
He is survived by his wife Betty; son Scott Parpart; son-in-law Greg Duffy; three grandchildren: Brad Duffy, Tyler Parpart, Tiana Gerdes; three great grandchildren: Taylor Schumacher, Ryder Gerdes and Finley Gerdes; a sister Lillian (Neil) Hinckley; a sister-in-law Della (Raymond) Becker; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Lu Ann Duffy; grandson Nathan Duffy; two sisters: Dorothy Nowlan and Bernice Woodard; and four brothers: John, Rudy, Richard, and Walter.
Due to the current gathering restrictions, private family services were held. Interment was at Cedar Valley Church Cemetery.
