Merlin Emil Lidtke (Les) died Thursday November 26th 2018 peacefully at home with his wife by his side.
He was born October 14th 1932 to Emil and Eleanor Lidtke in Sebeka, MN. He served in the US army and was a POW in the Korean conflict. He received Korean Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars along with the United Nations Service Medal. He was a life member of the VFW Post 1287. He worked as a corp of engineers on Lock & Dam #5 for 5 years. He retired from Miller Lubricators with over 30 years of experience. Merlin loved company and playing cards with family and friends. He enjoyed tinkering in the garage fixing things. Merlin was loving and caring, he touched many people hearts. He had witty sense of humor that was contagious. He will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Lousetta Lidtke, 3 children Alan (Pat), Paul, and Valerie (Mark), his step brother Chuck, 6 grandchildren Cassandra (Nicky), Amber (Chris), Brittany (Brandon), Crystal (Lenny), Samantha (Max), and Lance, 9 great grandchildren Ben, Shawn, Athena, Brayden, Rylan, Kiley, Jack, Cecelia, Adelaina, with 2 more on the way. He is proceeded in death by his parents and half-brother Gary.
Visitation will be at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00p.m on Wednesday, December 5 followed by a Funeral Service at 1pm. Casket bearers will be Lance Lidtke, Mark Krage, Tim Emmons, Bryan McDonald, Steve Brown and Mike Costello. Burial with military honors will be in Oakland Cemetery, Minnesota City. A dinner gathering of friends and family will be held at the VFW (208 East 3rd Street) following the burial.
