James H. Eddy

November 23, 1933 ~ July 3, 2019 (age 85)

James. H. Eddy, 85, of Winona, passed away at home, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, July 3, 2019. Jim was born on November 23, 1933 in Howard Lake. MN to Howard and Mary Rose (O’Loughlin) Eddy. He graduated from Howard Lake High School in 1951. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1953 – 1956 and continued service in the Marine Corp Reserves through 1974. After leaving the service, he resumed his studies at St. John’s University, Collegeville, MN and graduated in 1958 with a BS. He graduated from University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK with a Master’s in 1960 and a PH. D in 1971. Jim was a professor at Winona State University from 1965 – 1995 in the Political Science Dept.

Jim married Mary Reglin on Feb. 11, 1967 in Winona, MN. They raised their two sons Christopher and Chad in Winona. Jim was active in Cathedral of the Sacred Heart; past member of the Unified Catholic School Board; Parks and Trails Council of MN; Past President of Friends of the Upper Mississippi Wildlife Refuge; Leon J. Wetzel American Legion Post # 9; Marine Corp Officer Association; Hiawatha Valley Marines; Chair of Toys for Kids; WSU Chair of the Political Science Dept; committee member of the Minnesota Marine Art Museum.

Jim’s dedication to altruistic efforts will reverberate for years to come.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary; brother William; sister Catherine. He is survived by his sons Christopher of Miami, FL and Chad of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughter Delfina.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 8 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. at Fawcett Junker Funeral Home. Reverend Mark McNea will officiate. Private inurnment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Winona.
