Elayne H. (Wamhoff, Klein) Haedtke passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2017.
Elayne was born on May 21, 1926 on a farm in La Crosse, Wisconsin, the eighth child of Herman and Adela (Plate) Wamhoff. She moved with her family to Winona when she was an infant.
She graduated from Winona Senior High School with the class of 1944 and worked in the Filing and Collection Departments at Watkins Products until 1964.
She was married to Theodore (Ted) Klein on October 1, 1949 at Bethel Presbyterian Church. They enjoyed many summer vacations, going by automobile across the states to the West Coast. Ted passed away on October 4, 1964 at the farm he grew up on.
Elayne married Willard Haedtke on December 4, 1965 at Grace Presbyterian Church Parsonage. Willard and Elayne purchased a home in Lewiston, MN in 1987 when Willard could no longer farm. They lived in Lewiston for 8 years while Elayne continued to work as secretary for Grace Presbyterian Church in Winona. She retired from there in August 2008 after 39 years.
Willard and Elayne continued to vacation by traveling on bus trips, seeing a lot of the country in their lives together. Willard passed away on July 6, 2006 at their home in Winona.
Elayne is survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews as well as many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and 5 sisters, Delinnah Malewicki, Delores O’Dea, Myrtle Curtis, Beverly Wamhoff and Sherrie Lou Weaver; also 4 brothers, Delbert, Lavern, Neil and Robert; several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.
Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Grace Presbyterian Church, Winona, MN with Rev. Rachel Riggle officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Winona. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. at the church on Saturday.
Elayne requested any memorials be directed to Grace Presbyterian Church, Winona; American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
