Charles E. Wunderlich

October 12, 1937 ~ December 22, 2018 (age 81)

Charles E. Wunderlich, aged 81, died Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Lake Winona Manor in Winona, Minnesota. 

Charles was born to Chester and Eleanor (Kingsley) Wunderlich in La Crosse, Wisconsin and lived most of his life in Fountain City, Wisconsin.  He graduated from Fountain City High School and Winona State University where he studied accounting and Spanish.  He served in the US Army from 1959 to 1961.  Charles was married to Sandra B. Karlin of Manitowoc, Wisconsin on February 24, 1962 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Together they had two children: Christopher E. Wunderlich of Ashland, Oregon, and Mark C. Wunderlich of Catskill, New York.  He was employed at Fiberite Corporation of Winona for twenty years before transferring to RTP Company of Winona until his retirement in 2001 as Corporate Secretary/Treasurer and Board Member.  He was a member of the Wisconsin Mule and Donkey Society, Minnesota Donkey and Mule Society, Blackhawk Hunting Dog Association, Winona Sportsmans Club, Dodge Sportsmans Club and the Fountain City Rod and Gun Club.  He was also a member of St John’s United Church of Christ in Fountain City.  He was an avid deer and duck hunter with duck hunting being his passion. 

He is survived by his wife Sandra of 56 years, his sons Christopher and Mark.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his grandson Cyan E. Wunderlich. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 31, 2018 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fountain City, Wisconsin, with visitation preceding the service from 9 until 11 AM.  Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 9, Winona.

Memorials may be directed to St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fountain City, or to the American Legion Post 9 in Winona.
