Lois Laufenburger, age 96, of Winona, MN peacefully passed to her eternal reward on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Saint Anne Extended Healthcare, Winona, MN.
Lois Maxine was born January 27, 1921 in Money Creek, MN to John Jr. and Eva (Olson) Fitting. On August 21, 1921 she was baptized into the Methodist Faith and was later confirmed at the Stockton Methodist Church. Growing up Lois attended school at and was a member of the 1939 graduating class of Winona High School.
On June 10, 1941 Lois was united in marriage to Ervin Laufenburger at McKinley Methodist Church in Winona. Lois and Ervin spent many wonderful years together before his death on March 30, 2002.
Lois worked in food services at Jefferson Elementary School in Winona for many years.
Lois was a loyal member and extremely active in the former McKinley United Methodist Church as she served as a secretary and treasurer for the United Methodist Women of McKinley, a financial secretary for 23 years for the McKinley Methodist Church, a member of the O.E.S. Chapter #141, and was a past matron in 1976 and also in 2000. She was involved with the Winona Shrine Auxiliary, the Watkins Home Auxiliary, and a volunteer of Community Memorial Hospital. Lois also was a member of the Simplicity Club, a social member of Westfield Golf Club, the Winona County Historical Society, the Lois Club and the Winona County Old Settler’s Association.
She is survived by cousins; her caretakers Allen and Janice Fitting of Houston, MN; other extended family and many friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers-in-law, Earl, Arthur and Roger Laufenburger.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, July 17, 2017 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Winona with Rev. Kathy Schuler officiating. Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. at the church on Monday. Burial will be in the Money Creek Cemetery, Money Creek, MN.
